Hitachi to kill the remote control and game controller?
Hitachi is announced they are working with Canesta’s to create a new 3D controller (press release here). This means you’ll be able to control programs on your TV by simply moving your hands. The the real beauty is the ability for the TV to detect which parts of your body are moving and how fast (insert porn joke here).
3D camera technology can tell if you’re kicking, punching, swinging a golf club and more. In other words, you can turn on the TV by just moving your hand, turn on a video game by pointing to it and then play all those Wii like games but with more accuracy and without a controller. The technology is actually available today so manufacturers are not simply exploring technical feasibility, but how to roll out and market it. CES 2010?
